In memory of Luke Wheaton

Having just left school, Luke was passionate about getting an apprenticeship. This was apparent from the start of the recruitment process. With excellent GCSE grades, and quietly confident, Luke made a positive first impression; providing some outstanding responses during the interview. It was obvious Luke was delighted to be offered a position and he quickly became an exemplar apprentice. Modest about his academic abilities, he not only had the aptitude to learn the technical knowledge and demonstrated excellent practical skills, but he had the drive to share that with his peers, supporting the development of others where he could.

This award is open to those who are 16 – 21 years old in the first year of their apprenticeship. Nominations for this award should be made by the employer. Judges will be looking for entries which showcase characteristics that Luke demonstrated during the recruitment process and the first stages of his apprenticeship; commitment, enthusiasm and independence.

Throughout the judging process, judges will be looking for an apprentice who is able to demonstrate a passion for their chosen apprenticeship, illustrate their commitment to the company, and also embed themselves within their apprenticeship community, through teamSpirit.
